​Hit! is a long-form television series currently for pitch based on a feature-length screenplay written by Jacob Karnas in 2001. The feature focuses satirically on the cult of celebrity commonly found in the entertainment industry and slowly slides into a caper-style, almost slapstick, farcical take on film's political history. The story itself showcases the similarities between the three presented groups: the Hollywood elite, political figures of the day (both historical and fictional), and members of organised crime syndicates - all taking place during the 'Red Scare' of the House Un-American Committee hearings. Originally fixed in a contemporary setting, after much consideration the story was moved to 1953. Many elements in the plot directly reference the atmosphere present in Washington, Hollywood and the film industry today with a lens on the past.
